Bodhgaya (Buddhagaya), the land of Enlightenment and Salvation, which is located in Bihar, India, 110 kilometer from Patna, is the most sacred place to all Buddhists, just as Mecca is to Islam, Jerusalem is to Jews and Christians, the Ganges River is to Hindus, and

Amritsar, the site of the Golden temple, is to Sikhs.  In Pali Literature, the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment is referred to variously as Bodhi Rukkha Mula, Bodhimandala, Sambodhim, or Uruvela etc.  It is written that Arimetteya, the future Buddha, will also attain enlightenment in this place.  That is why, every year, millions of Buddhists from all over the world visit the site with great devotion.

ဗုဒၶဂယာ၊ မဟာေဗာဓိပရဟိတေက်ာင္းတိုက္အတြင္း၌ ၀ါတြင္းကာလ (၆) ၾကိမ္ေျမာက္ အဂၤလိပ္စာအထူးသင္တန္းကို ကိုးလ္ကတၱားျမိဳ႕၊ ေဗာဓိသုခပရဟိတေက်ာင္းဆရာေတာ္ ေဒါက္တာနေႏၵာဘာသ ဦးစီးလ်က္ (၂) လ တိုင္တို္င္ပို႔ခ်သင္ၾကားျပသေပးမည္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။ အဆိုပါသင္တန္း၌ ဗုဒၶဘာသာတရားေတာ္ကို ႏွစ္ေပါင္း(၂၀)ခန္႔ေလ့လာျပီး ဗုဒၶဘာသာ၀င္ျဖစ္ခဲ့လာသူ ဗုဒၶ၏ဇာတ္နိပါတ္ေတာ္မ်ားအားလံုးနီးပါးပါ၀င္သည့္(Jataka Teles of the Buddha) စာအုပ္ကို အလြယ္ကူဆံုးႏွင့္ အရွင္းလင္းဆံုး ၂၅ နွစ္တို္င္တိုင္ေရးသားထုတ္ေ၀ခဲ့သူ အေမရိကန္နိဳင္ငံသား ဆရာၾကီး ဘဲနက္ကန္နွင့္ ၀ိသာခါ က၀ဆကီးတို႔ ဇနီးေမာင္ႏွံတို႔အျပင္၊ ေက်ာင္းသားမ်ားအၾကိဳက္ဆံုး ဆရာ Steve (အေမရိကန္ေလယာဥ္ကုမၸဏီ Ground Engineer) တို႔က သင္ၾကားပို႔ခ်ေပးမည္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။

အဆိုပါသင္တန္းကို စိတ္၀င္စားသူ စာသင္သားရဟန္းသံဃာေတာ္မ်ား၊ သီလရွင္ဆရာေလးမ်ား၊ လူပုဂၢိဳလ္မ်ားအားလုံုး မည္သူမဆို အခမဲ့တက္ေရာက္သင္ၾကားနိဳင္ပါေၾကာင္း သတင္းေကာင္းပါးအပ္ပါသည္။

Fifth Intensive English Course Notice

Dear Dhamma Friends,

We are very happy to announce that Bodhisukha Parahita Temple, Russa Road Young Buddhist Student Literacy Mission will be holding the 5th Intensive English Course in association with Buddhist Relief Mission from 15th March to 15th April 2012 at its premises of Bodhisukha School in Kolkata.
Like earlier Intensive English Courses, this year also very qualified teachers will be imparting special practical English. As usual, Ken and Visakha Kawasaki, who have been teaching English for more than 30 years to non-English-speaking students, will head the faculty. The Kawasakis are well-known now in the Buddhist world due to the release of their three-volume set, Jataka Tales of the Buddha: An Anthology, published by Buddhist Publication Society, Kandy, Sri Lanka, one of the best-selling books in the fifty-year history of the Society. This success proves that the Jatakas are still relevant to modern life. We appreciate their skillful retelling of 217 of these priceless stories. The very popular Steve Littlepage will also be returning this year to teach for the third time. A new teacher, Dr. Vanderpooten, will be coming from Colombo to present a special workshop. Ven. Dr. Nando Batha will again be offering in-depth grammar classes to the students.
This Intensive English Course will include training in all four language skills as well as public speaking, character building, and general knowledge.
From the very beginning, our Mission has striven to help monk-students by assisting then in gaining admission to various universities in India, by giving stipends to those with financial need, and by offering English training. Many monks and nuns have benefitted from the Intensive English Courses conducted at Bodhisukha since 2006.
All members of the Sangha from Indian universities, from Myanmar, and from Bangladesh are cordially invited to participate in this year’s course and to enrich their English skills.

Only အသံုးအႏွဳန္းအေၾကာင္း သိေကာင္းစရာ

Only သည္ ၾကိယာ၀ိေသသန (Adverb) ပုဒ္ျဖစ္သည္။ ၾကိယာ၀ိေသသနဆိုသည္မွာ ၾကိယာကို အထူးျပဳေသာ ပုဒ္ဟု ဆိုလိုသည္။ သို႔ေသာ္ ၾကိယာ၀ိေသသနပုဒ္သည္ ၾကိယာတစ္ခုတည္းကိုသာ အထူးျပဳသည္မဟုတ္ပါ။ ၾကိယာ၀ိေသသနပုဒ္သည္ ၾကိယာကို အထူးျပဳသလို နာမ၀ိေသသန (adjective) ပုဒ္၊ ၀ိဘတ္ (preposition) ပုဒ္ႏွင့္ ၾကိယာ၀ိေသသနပုဒ္ အခ်င္းခ်င္းတို႔ကိုလည္း အထူးျပဳပါသည္။ ၄င္းျပင္ ၾကိယာ၀ိေသသနပုဒ္သည္ ၄င္း ေနရာယူသည့္အေပၚမွာ မူတည္၍ ကတၱားပုဒ္ ေရွးမွာ ထားလွ်င္ ကတၱားပုဒ္၊ ၾကိယာေရွးမွာ ထားလွ်င္ ၾကိယာပုဒ္၊ ကံပုဒ္ေရွးမွာ ထားလွ်င္ ကံပုဒ္တို႔ကို အသီးသီး အထူးျပဳပါသည္။ ၄င္းကို ေအာက္ပါ only ျဖင့္ တည္ေဆာက္ထားေသာ ၀ါက်မ်ားကို ေလ့လာသိရွိႏိုင္ပါသည္။

၁) Only I love her. (ကြ်န္ဳပ္ တစ္ေယာက္တည္းသာ သူမကို ခ်စ္တယ္)။

{တျခားဘယ္သူမွ မခ်စ္ဘူးဟု ဆိုလိုသည္}

၂) I only love her. (ကြ်နဳ္ပ္ သူမကို ခ်စ္ရံုသာ ခ်စ္တယ္)။

It is our pleasure to inform you that Bodhisukha Parahita Temple, Russa Road Young Buddhist Student Literacy Mission, is going to organize the fourth "English Proficiency Training Course" for one month at its Mission from 15th March to 15th April 2011. Anybody interested is cordially invited to participate in the Course. Well experienced Faculties, Ken & Visakha Kawasaki, the directors of Buddhist Relief Mission of USA, will give individualized attention to each student. Ven. Dr. Nando Batha, myself, will look after the new students, who are having less skill in English writing and reading. It is also our pleasure to mention that during the course, we will use some of the Jatakas for the texts of the course.
