Donation can make you wealthier

Donation can make you wealthier
Dana is the word derived from Pali literature. It means the offering or sacrificing. Dana cannot be performed by everybody. In many Jatakas and Buddhist literatures we can find the significance of Dana. The Buddha has donated even his life for welfare of the others. In one of the Suttas the Buddha pointed out “Danato Bhogava” carrying the meaning that those who donate become rich. In my earlier years I used to think that those people who are rich may not perform great Dana. In deed, rich people become rich because of their generosity and their efforts. We will not find anybody who becomes poor because of their donation in this world. In fact, donation will make you richer and happier. This is agreed by the Buddha’s word – Danato Bhogava.
Mr. U Myo Nyunt and his wife, Daw Khin Hnin Yee, along with their children came to our temple for the first time to consult with Nephrologist At Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals on 5/3/10. All necessary tests have been done. After seeing all test-reports doctors advised Daw Khin Hnin Yee should undergo dialysis as quickly as possible, but her husband U Myo Nyunt did not listen to the advise of the doctors. In fact, he would like to control his wife’s disease for the time being with medicines only. Fortunately after some medications Daw Khin Hnin Yee become quick ok. Her appetite also increases. These made U Myo Nyunt stronger with his decision. But they didn’t know this may be temporary. They purchased some medicines for 12 months. Their plan was to come here after 12 months later. In the meantime, Mr. U Myo Nyunt was admitted to the same hospital for his heart disease on 11/3/10. Immediately after his admission, Coronary angiogram done and revealed triple vessel Coronary arter disease. Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty with stenting to LCX (Xeince), Ramus (Endeavor), RCA (Cypher) were done in the same sitting. He was discharged from Hospital on 13/3/10 with stable condition.
They went back to Myanmar along with all these medicines on 17/3/10. The weather already started to be hot at this time. They had donated some Rupees for repairing of the small structure as well as installation of air-condition machines so that they can stay when they come again for renal transplant. Immediately after arriving at their house, Mr. U Myo Nyunt went to border area, where his business was supposed to be started. But his wife’s disease was not waiting till his desired time. Mrs. Daw Khin Hnin Yee had to take admission at Local Hospital in Yangon, where she got first dialysis. After two weeks she was discharged from hospital with stable condition.
Mrs. Daw Khin Hnin Yee, her sons, Mr. Myint Soe Oo, Mr. Lin Lin, daughter, Ms. Tha Zin, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kalyar, came again to our temple for renal transplant on 10/5/10. The weather was very hot at the time. Air condition was also not working properly due to low electricity power. It was awful.
Mrs. Khin Hnin Yee was admitted to Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals along with her donor on 23/5/10. After long struggle with so many health complications, renal transplantation has successfully been done into her body on 29/6/10. Her renal prospective donor is her own son, Mr. Myint Soe Oo.
Before their 2nd time coming, Mr. U Myo Nyunt has requested me to buy a small car to be donated at temple. It surprised all monks at temple, for he was telling as if joking. In fact, Mr. U Myo Nyunt was a man of action. While they were going back to Yangon after all works completed here, again they have donated Rs. 8,90,000/ for construction of the school building.
In deed, Mr. U Myo Nyunt is not much wealthy person, but he can do whatever he wanted to do. Definitely he will be wealthier and happier after his donation of a car, costing $ 13000, and Rs. 8,90,000/- ($ 20,000).
